Complaints...(sigh)

Well, here it is: the first complaints (other than the ones that mentioned that I had sent out my email rather than my blogsite...heavier sigh)...my youngest daughter, by the name of Caitlin, called from the Great Midwest to tell me that she and her friends had viewed my blog with pride until they got to the part where I mentioned a guy named 'Ernie' and not Caity as well...I didn't get it, but years of motherhood has taught me that ruffled feathers are not to be desired...so...here goes:

I am off on a visit and artful quest tomorrow to the Ohio where my youngest is going to school and working fulltime, so perhaps that's what's got her riled up...that and her car has no a/c., the apartment a/c is broken and work has no a/c...that might make me a bit prickly as well. I have two daughters, Jessie, the eldest, lives in Lake Tahoe and is a massage therapist, the aforementioned Caitlin is in Columbus. Jessie has been my most artistic offspring and I look forward to her artistic development as the years roll on. Caitlin showed talent but has no patience to take the time to explore creativity: must not be the right time...soccer has been her game and claim to fame. Both of my girls have encouraged and praised and been an active part of the best part of me...Stacie is Caitlin's friend in Columbus and she has been our houseguest, now I get to see HER city...I AM excited, no doubt about it!!! Look out girls and Columbus!

So, off to visit and also to take a class..."Medieval Book of Hours" at European Papers in Columbus...I am excited, as bookbinding and bookmaking have become a favorite part of my creative quest...but then again, books have been a huge part of my life in general! After the class, I am going to visit a new friend that is also an artist, at her home, where she will initiate me into the ancient world of silk dyeing...something I have tried, but have not a shred of confidence in, have never taken a course or class, and only know that I don't like the feel of painted silk against my skin: hence learning to dye silk the correct way. I hope to have lots of photos from my adventures and post them...As it is, I think I'll post photos of the girls and sign off. I'm so excited!!!

By Popular Request...

Okay, I wasn't about to ignore a request for more art photos...actually, I felt quite flattered, so I pretty soon need to figure out how to put test and photos into a more 'make sense' mode, but, perhaps another day. This blog was created with thunder rumbling then roaring, shut down for the lightening episode, gotten rolling again during the rain...all I could think of was that the Earth and Sky Entities were voicing their input...and grateful that that input didn't destroy the computer itself...Anyway, these are some of my Art Dolls created over the last winter. I explored using curly willow, fibers, polymer and more...

I will be listing blogs of some of my art pals and links to their ETSY sites as we all enter this new art world of the virtual. A friend and her mother, both creative types, share an Etsy Store, so when things get up, running and smooth(?when?), I'll get all those links together...Until then, I hope you enjoy some of my gal pals from here in my studio.

TTFN.(Ta-ta for now)

More Art (per request)...I can't say "no"

Musings from High Atop Bessiebelle Mountain

Here it is, and, I am quite excited, to say the least. I wanted a way to share some of the new and exciting art I am creating in my studio with family and friends. Please, please leave me comments and thoughts, even just to let me know you have dropped by...My extended family son, Christopher was, as always, my guiding light in setting up this blog, so, kudos, Chris...and may I one day become techno-proficient enough to not lean on you so heavily (so what IS html anyway? and how would I even begin to learn it? AHEM... So, as time goes on, perhaps I'll even achieve some 'bells and whistles' to add on to keep things worth visiting. I will add my artistic efforts, thoughts on their evolution and creation, and who knows? Perhaps it will all take on a life of its' own after a while...

The mountains are the main show here...they dominate us on all levels: our soil is rocks, our lawn is thick woods, our 'neighborhood' roamers are deer, bear, coyote, eagle and the occasional snake. Now is the time for my Summer Prayer: Earth Goddess, please know that I appreciate of of Earth's creatures, but please, during this summer season, let all of my encounters with snakes be safe, and if possible, let them live outdoors, me indoors, and stay, really, out of each other's sight. The coyote is a new visitor. Our dogs do not like the smell, get very nervous if they pick it up, and are more wary than of the occasional bear passing through...life in the animal kingdom...

My Purple Mountain photo is of the Eastern slope of the Blue Ridge, the lush green of our mountain cabin in the second photo is a lazy afternon of counting just how many shades of green can be seen.

Today's art offering is of my friend and step-mother Laura B's birthday gift of a personalized art doll: very much an assemblage piece. She has an actual photo of Laura's face Diamond Glazed, two microscope slides with a 'sandwich' of fusion paper and pseudo-soldering to hold it together. An old fashioned girdle fastener is one arm, and she has a wineglass in one hand for all of the nice glasses of vino we have shared over the years. Legs are rolled antique dictionary pages secured with metallic thread....look closely, you'll see much more...

More another time...today's efforts done...
